{"id":388,"date":"2010-01-05T22:09:58","date_gmt":"2010-01-06T02:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tvgp.tv\/v2\/?page_id=388"},"modified":"2019-05-25T20:15:35","modified_gmt":"2019-05-26T00:15:35","slug":"equipment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/tvgp.tv\/v2\/equipment\/","title":{"rendered":"Equipment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve always wanted to share information on how we make the show, so here it is: all the equipment\/software we use to record our show.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hosting<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The podcast audio files are hosted by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.libsyn.com\">Libsyn<\/a>. \u00a0I&#8217;ve been using them for over ten years and I&#8217;ve never run into any problems.\u00a0 I cannot recommend them enough.<\/li>\n<li>The rest of the hosting (the main website, the forums, other miscellany) is through BlueHost.<\/li>\n<li>The website itself (the one you&#8217;re looking at right now) is run on <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/\">WordPress<\/a>.\u00a0 I use the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.blubrry.com\/powerpress\/\">Blubrry PowerPress Podcasting Plugin<\/a> for managing the RSS feed&#8217;s media enclosure on the site.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Audio Equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Boston uses the Audio Technica AT-2020 USB mic, with a short stand (On Stage adjustable desk stand) a shock mount (generic) and a pop filter (generic).\u00a0 Moonpir and TheNimp use the Blue Snowball with a adjustable mic arm and a pop filter.<\/li>\n<li>While I no longer need multiple sound card support like in the old days, I still use the latest version of Adobe Audition.\u00a0 I&#8217;m subscribed to Adobe Creative Cloud, which does off Audition standalone.\u00a0 I&#8217;m still using it because it makes my production pipeline super easy and its crash handling is fantastic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Audio Settings<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For the audio, after putting in all the music and additional sections, I normalize the entire episode to -1db. \u00a0I then compress the audio down into a 96000kb mono MP3.<\/li>\n<li>To edit the ID3 tags on the episodes, I use\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mp3tag.de\/en\/\">MP3tag<\/a>, which I can&#8217;t recommend enough for podcasters. \u00a0It makes ID3 tagging much, much easier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Remote Audio Recording<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Now that we&#8217;re not recording in the same room anymore,\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.skype.com\">Skype<\/a> is a necessity. \u00a0Each host records their own mic output themselves using <a href=\"http:\/\/audacity.sourceforge.net\/\">Audacity<\/a> or Adobe Audition. \u00a0After recording, all the individually recorded tracks get edited together using Adobe Audition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Video Equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For livestreaming, I use XSplit, which is hooked up to restream.io to stream to as many services as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Video Settings<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I record and stream in native 1080p at 60 frames per second.\u00a0 The stream settings are kept the same when posted to YouTube.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Production Computer<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Boston&#8217;s computer is a self-built machine.\u00a0 It has an Intel Core i5 7600K, 32GB of RAM, and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Dual 6GB.\u00a0 The podcasts are produced using Windows 10 Ultimate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve always wanted to share information on how we make the show, so here it is: all the equipment\/software we use to record our show.
