As a huge metal head myself, let me suggest a few non metal songs I love. I'll suggest some metal stuff too, when I'm back in front of a real computer and not on my phone.

TV On The Radio - Wolf Like Me:

The National - Alligator (album):

Dr. Steel - Back and Forth:

Soen - Savia:

I can appreciate the need for the new.

I've been on a bit of an 80s Wave (if that's the proper term) kick lately.. mostly due to finding an awesome song in a GTAV video

Carpenter Brut - "Anarchy Road"
https://youtu.be/YgK0uRR5jGY
"Turbo Killer"
https://youtu.be/wy9r2qeouiQ

(Great stuff for playing Hotline Miami, for instance.)

Deftones - "Tempest"
https://youtu.be/wlaZpzcc_p4

In Flames - "Cloud Connected"
www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAXtDPKkOlA

Trivium - "Silence in the Snow"
https://youtu.be/PcIlZ3luYHc

"A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation"
https://youtu.be/exC4QoQKOVY

"Anthem (We Are Fire)"
https://youtu.be/Lp8p5OPtEe0

(Frankly, their entire "Ascendency" and "Shogun" albums are dynamite; I don't think you can go wrong with anything on Shogun!)

I assumed someone had replaced you with a replicant until I got to the third song went & back to your original post and saw you clearly demarcated those videos as non-metal.

I am a terrible person and need to read more.

Some songs are a bit of departure from what I'm used to, but I'm loving Symphony X's new album (Underworld).  The Youtube links aren't their best tracks so I'd just recommend checking the samples on iTunes or whatever your music purchasing store of choice is to see if it's up your alley.

Not sure these would qualify as work out music but I'm always willing to pimp a few of my favorites.  First, Orange Goblin, they are a heavy stoner band.  Their early stuff was way more stoner-y, heavy Black Sabbath influence.  Their newer stuff is trending towards just good heavy metal.  Nothing to melt your face, but great grooves and riffs, and fun lyrics that aren't your normal death and dying stuff.  My personal favorite album is Time Traveling Blues (older).

Graveyard is another great band.  Again very Sabbath inspired (seeing a trend), with a lot of Zepplin in there too.  Only a few albums but they are incredible.

Something a bit off the beaten path but a bit faster, would be Valient Thor.  They are a thrashy and fast.  Very fun lyrics, they have a whole song dedicated to pro wrestling.  Just a fun upbeat band.

I'm deep into the stoner metal rabbit hole if you like any of this stuff let me know and I can suggest some more.

Edit:  Just wanted to throw in (and I'm sure Hanna will back me up on this one) Isis.  Mostly instrumental but they are incredibly talented.  Their songs build and crescendo like no other band I've listened to.  Great 'effing stuff.

Jive: Isis is fucking awesome. Totally listened to Panopticon today (link for those interested). So damn good.

I said I'd post some metal in here, and I'm going to live up to that.

If you're working out, and need a nice steady pace to run to, look no further than Amon Amarth. I'm a huge fan of Surtur Rising. It keeps the kind of pace you can row a longship to:

If you dig thrash, Vektor's Black Future should be right up your alley. Very unique vocal style.

Intersting instrumental stuff from Chicago, Scientist.

And finally, something to relax to, that I've been listening to as coding music at work for the last couple months; The Contortionist's Language:

I'd give a link if I weren't on mobile, but Universal Language by Angel Vivaldi is a good EP for a workout.

I've recently discovered a joy in a particular mix of The Xx, Glitch Mob and the album "The Creek Drank the Cradle" by Iron and Wine.. it's been making for some great headspace while trying to push through Legal Issues in Business and Micro/Macro Econ.

I really wish I could say it wasn't, but it's killing me right now; the vocabulary seems to be the hardest part at times, as they seem to define things in an odd manner. Once you can get past that, it's no harder than physics in the way it deals with graphs and maths. (Physics is a lot easier, IMO.)
